Emergency & Accident Procedures

Before delivery

• The lead coach confirms the location of the nearest first aid kit, defibrillator, telephone and fire exits.
• Emergency contact information and medical information are held by the commissioning organisation and made available for the session.
• PHB first aid provision: Head Coach/ Shane Walker.

Accident or injury

• Stop the session and make the area safe.
• Provide first aid within the limits of the responder's training.
• Call 999 where the injury is serious or where there is any doubt.
• Inform the venue's designated person and the commissioning organisation immediately.
• Complete an accident record the same day and share it with the commissioning organisation.

Medical emergency

Where a participant has a known condition (for example asthma, epilepsy, diabetes or a severe allergy), the commissioning organisation must disclose it and ensure prescribed medication is available on site. PHB staff do not administer medication unless a specific written agreement is in place.

Missing participant

• Stop activity and account for all participants.
• Inform the venue's designated person and the commissioning organisation immediately.
• Follow the venue's missing child procedure and escalate to police where required.

Evacuation and severe disruption

PHB staff follow the venue's evacuation procedure, take the register to the assembly point and account for all participants before handing over to the venue's designated person. Sessions may be curtailed for extreme weather, power failure, facility damage or safety concerns.

This document is reviewed at least annually, or sooner following an incident, a change in legislation, or a change in PHB's delivery. Date of last review: 7th Sep 2026. Date of next review: 7th Sep 2027.
