Code of Conduct

Purpose

This code sets out the behaviour expected of everyone representing Pro Hoops Blueprint and of everyone taking part in PHB activity, so that sessions are safe, inclusive and professionally delivered.

Expectations of coaches and staff

• Put the welfare of participants first at all times.
• Maintain professional boundaries and avoid unnecessary one-to-one contact.
• Use appropriate language and never use humiliation, sarcasm or intimidation.
• Treat all participants fairly and without discrimination.
• Follow PHB safeguarding, health and safety and partner site procedures.
• Arrive prepared, appropriately dressed and on time.
• Report concerns promptly through the appropriate safeguarding route.
• Never use alcohol, smoking, vaping or substances while delivering activity.

Expectations of participants

• Respect coaches, teammates, opponents, officials and venue staff.
• Take part safely and follow instructions given by coaching staff.
• Treat equipment and facilities with care.
• Do not use discriminatory, abusive or threatening language or behaviour.
• Support an environment where everybody can take part.

Expectations of parents, carers and referrers

• Provide accurate registration, medical and emergency contact information.
• Support positive behaviour and respectful conduct.
• Raise concerns through the PHB complaints procedure rather than at the point of delivery where possible.
• Arrive and collect participants at the agreed times.

Breaches of this code

Breaches are addressed proportionately and may result in a conversation, a warning, temporary suspension from activity or removal from the programme. Where a breach involves a safeguarding concern, PHB will follow its safeguarding procedures and inform the partner organisation.

Review and contact

This document is reviewed at least annually, or sooner following an incident, a change in legislation, or a change in PHB's delivery. Date of last review: 7th Sep 2026. Date of next review: 7th Sep 2027.
